Eric K. Washington's Home
Welcome to my photography site.
I am a writer and photographer based in New York City. I'm the author of a local neighborhood history book, "Manhattanville: Old Heart of West Harlem," published in the Arcadia Images of America series. My other numerous print media credits include The New Yorker, Village Voice, Metropolis, Time Out NY, Elle Decor, Edible Manhattan, American Visions, and The Encyclopedia of New York State.
If photography has never been my foremost professional pursuit, it certainly has been a constant dogged avocation. To borrow a sentiment from the great Andre Kertesz, "I am an amateur and I intend to stay that way for the rest of my life." I'm honored and encouraged by the warm reception many of my photos have earned thus far.
My preferred traveling companion is the Panasonic Lumix DMC LX3, a "prosumer" grade little monster of a compact camera. I call her Lex. She and I usually prefer available light without a flash.
